What we collect

When you sign, we collect your name, email address, city, state, ZIP code, and signing time. Basic technical information may also be processed for security, abuse prevention, and reliable delivery.

What becomes public

Your name, city, state, generalized ZIP area, and signing date may appear in the public signer record. Your email address and full ZIP code are not included in that public record.

How we use private information

Email addresses may be used to confirm a signature, send essential petition updates, respond to requests, and protect the petition from fraud or abuse. Campaign or marketing email should be sent only with a clear opt-in or a lawful basis and an easy unsubscribe mechanism.

Sharing and sale

We do not sell personal information. Service providers that host the site or database may process information on our behalf under their own security and privacy obligations. Information may be disclosed when legally required or when necessary to protect the service and its participants.

Retention and requests

Petition records may be retained as part of the historical public record and for accountability. To request access, correction, or removal of nonessential private information, email contact@signfordemocracy.org. Removal of a public signature will be evaluated against applicable law and the integrity of the petition record.

Security

Public access is limited to a separate public-safe database view. Direct anonymous access to private email data is denied. No internet service can promise perfect security, but access controls are reviewed and sensitive credentials are not placed in browser code.

Children

This petition is intended for people able to understand and knowingly endorse its civic request. It is not designed to collect information from children under 13.
